Meat Loaf at WolfTrap (Vienna, Virginia) Sept 7, 2003
I went to see Meat Loaf & the NLE
at WolfTrap. I had the honour of having Jen
S. & her adorable niece sitting behind me. I will try to tell you some of
what I remember. I managed to take some pictures which you can see below.
Kasim opened the show for Meat with 3 songs.
1) Don't Hold Me Back
2) Before She Was Gone
3) Sacrifice
Meat Loaf's show started off with Wasted Youth.. When Meat & the band came out on
stage for "Do It" they were all in black with masks, gloves, etc that glowed in the dark...
I
didn't know about this before going.. But I have to say it was really COOL to
see.
The show was a mix of songs from the new album & Meat's other songs.. I
would
have like 1 or 2 more songs from the new album. But he played a lot of my
other favourites so it was okay by me.
I don't want to bore anyone by giving a song blow by blow.. But I hope you
will not mind my impressions on a few songs. The effects the used for fire
during Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire) really looked like fire..
During
the band Intros they were playing the Intro music to 2 out 3.. But when he got
up to introducing Patti he stopped the music. Meat decided that he & Patti
should do part of I'd Lie For You. He said they had not done it at all during
the
tour.. So some of that band didn't know it.. After that he went back to 2 out
of 3. Patti wore a Dolly Parton style wig for Paradise.. Which I have to
admit I would have liked to have seen Meat toss like he use to do with the
blonde
wig Patti wore during the BAT 2 tour.
The one scary part of the show came during Paradise. They were singing on the
other side of the stage..( With everyone standing I could not see over
there.. ). But then everything stopped and word made it over to the other side
of
the stage (where my seat was) that Meat FELL OFF the stage. From where I was I
could see some of the band & crew rush over to that area. It was a big
relief
when Meat got back up & joked "Who needs Disneyland when I can do FREE
FALL
here". Meat commented that it was the stairs.. He lifted Patti shortly
afterwards
so hopefully the fall was not that bad. My husband came early to pick me up
&
he got to see the last hour of the show. His question to me was whether
the
fall was planned or not.. And I told him it did not look like it in my
opinion..
I am never good at remembering whole set lists or getting them in order.. But
here is what I remember:
Wasted Youth
Do It
Life Is A Lemon
Anything For Love
Testify
Tear Me Down
You Took The Words
All Revved Up
Anything For Love
2 Out Of 3
I'd Lie For You (Partial)
Bat Out Of Hell
Couldn't Have Said It Better
Out Of The Frying Pan
Living In America
I am missing 1 or 2 songs I think..
Meat poured water over John's head onto his drums while he was playing.. Neat
effect but poor John.
Meat owes another $100 for the F word...
PICTURES
These are the best of my pictures. Even though I had 4th row I was over on the left side. So it made getting some shots hard to get. Click on the pictures to see them full size.
