(SAS BAND Review: )
I was at a gig last night at the Shepherds
Bush Empire seeing the SAS Band. They are a group of well-known session/band
musicians who have guest vocalists sing with them - people like Tony Hadley
of Spandau Ballet, Leo Sayer, Mark Shaw of Then Jericho, Fish of Marillion,
Stevie Vann, Madeleine Bell, Paul Young, Chris Thompson etc.
And, unexpectedly, Patti Russo came on with them and sang a number! She
did Aretha Franklin's "Respect" and I have to say that this
lady ROCKED! I know she is a regular singer with MeatLoaf on his tours
but - I tell ya - this makes you realize how LITTLE Notre Dame lets Patti
show her rock diva voice to full effect! She has one of the strongest
female rock voices I've EVER heard (and in my MANY years on the rock circuit,
I've heard a few!). She was just awesome and most of the other people
I knew at the gig (lots of 'em - all those old Queen fans!) all agreed
with me that she was amazing!
It's not really NDDP related but I thought you might like to know.
Respect Patti - you ROCK girl!!! I shall look at you now in a whole different
but very respectful light...

Can't quite remember...was laughing too much about
other silly things on stage! But:
One of the dancers gave Patti a flower during The Bohemienne Song which
she then gave to Dean which he passed on to Kate! I expected Dean to give
the flower to Clopin at the end but I think he forgot, ha!Patti put on a 'funny American' accent during The Word Phoebus and John
found it very difficult to keep a straight face.Dean was having a few private jokes with Patti during The Voluptuary which
the audience couldn't really pick up ( like him pretending he was alright
after Frollo stabbed him ). But I think that was about it...
She looked very happy at the end actually. JP made her come along to the
end of the stage to sing the finale with him and danced around with her
for a bit. All dancers had one single flower for her at the curtain call
which I found very nice. But no, she looked very happy and I think I heard
her shout to the audience 'Thank you very much, I had a f***ing good time',
haha!
So there you go...Sorry to see her go, she had the most amazing voice.

Pack from Germany:
Gig review from the SAS Band (feat. Patti, Chris Thompson, Leo Sayer,
Fish + Paul Young) show at the brewery open air in Wiehl-Bielstein / Germany
on June 22nd:
The fabulous All Star Band around
bandleader Spike Edney kicks off a great and unique show at 9 p.m. on
these day. It starts with the great voice of Chris Thomspon singing "Davy's
on the road again" + "Blinded by the light" followed by
the rhythm of "Since you been gone". Then the friendly Leo Sayer
entered the stage and everybody in the audience was waiting for his No.
1 hit "When I need you" - and of course he did it and much more
good stuff like "Radar love"!!!After Leo, Fish entered the stage
and after a short solo part with "Lucky" + "Kayligh"
the wonderful Patti Russo was coming and joined in a duet with Fish's
"Just good friends" - Great!!! After that the charming Paul
Young did a few ("Come back and stay") of his wonderful love
songs with a great and soulful voice. Patti did also two fantastic solos
with "Baby love" and the necessary "Respect" - it's
an unbelievable good sounding voice! Finally CT did "For you"
and "Mighty Quinn" and some nice stuff of his upcoming new album
and last but not least a powerful cover of "The show must go on"
- a memorable tribute to Freddie. That was followed by Queens "We
will rock you" presented by Patti, Fish + CT. After two hours the
show comes to an end with Thompson's "You're the voice" and
everybody was joining in: Spike, the band, all the singers and of course
the enthusiastic audience who haven't seen such a great show before! Take
you're chance to see the SAS Band wherever you are and wherever they did
a show! It's unique and worth it, believe in me ...Thank you all folks
for that show!!!

I saw Patti at the Meatloaf concert, Cooper's Field, Cardiff. I have
always been a frustrated rock chic (I can't sing which is a real
handicap!) and Patti was an absolute delight. She stole the show for me.
What a voice! Hurry up and tour so I can see you again. B, Cardiff, South

I recently had the chance to see and
meet Patti in Atlantic City! She's had the opportunity to do a solo spot
on the recent Meat Loaf tour and she really shines! She does a rockin'
cover of Queen's "Tie Your Mother Down" and showcases two of her
own original songs "Madeline" and "It's Not Enough". I had the opportunity to see two shows and each was truly amazing! She was
in very strong voice and showed her sense of humor as well.
Her performances with Meat Loaf were classic! The audience was
drawn into each note. After close to 10 years together, they really have
it down to a science with perfect timing and voices that really compliment
each other. After the show Patti took time to chat, sign autographs, and pose
for pictures. She is very gracious with the fans and with her time. I hope
we get to see and hear more from her as a solo artist in the future! I
wish her much happiness and continued success. Love and Laughs to You too
Patti! Thanks for a great weekend of music and fun!

It's so great to see Patti, a tremendously talented (and very kind)
person, doing well. I saw Patti many years ago in a small club in
Upstate NY., as well as down by the 'falls. Keep up the great work,
Patti.

What a nice surprise last night at Meat Loaf - Patti walked out on the
stage during Anything 4 Love - I was totally blown away! I knew of Patti
from her earlier days w/ Meat & from NDDP - but I wasn't expecting her
last night! It was like a the old days! Wished they did more of their
songs from the old days that they did together.

I just saw Patti with Meatloaf a few days ago at the Wolf Trap in Vienna
(Virginia). I have always enjoyed her duets with him, such an incredible
voice!! But wow, live on stage you get the real feel of just how
incredible she is. I'm amazed that she's singing backup to anyone. Where
are the solo CD's?? I can't think of a female singer with a better, more
powerful voice.

Hi, I was at the NEC arena in Birmingham, England for Meatloaf's Couldn't
Have Said It Better tour, and Patti was singing backing vocals and dueting
with the great man himself, all I want to say is that Patti has the most
powerful and full voice I have ever heard. Totally amazing!

I saw Patti on April 27 in St. Barth's. She was performing at
Buenavista in Gustavia during the week of April 20-29. She is attractive
and her spunkiness was more evident in the small venue. Her voice is
incredible.

I saw Patti on tour with Meat Loaf in the summer of 2002, in
Cardiff Castle, South Wales, UK. Before Meat came on to do his show, Kasim
Sulton and Patti performed one of their own songs. I didn't like Kasim's
much, but Patti's was amazing, rivaled Meat's songs themselves. I just
want to know when her albums will be available in the UK/Cardiff - Wales?
She is an amazing singer and has a great figure and voice!

Hi all! Just back home in Holland from our trip to the states and Vegas.
Saw Patti perform in WWRY! Met up with Paul Crook before the show, and he
told us Patti wasn't feeling 100%. Just imagine our feelings of being
there and maybe having to miss out! Well, we'll give Patti a huge '100% go
out and knock 'em dead!' Because she gave 110%, it was fantastic and I am
so glad that she is a really tough 'little' gal! Way to go, Patti! We
really enjoyed the show, and are glad you took the time to come and chat
with us for
a year is up! By the way, we thought the
part really suited you, even makes you 'appear' - 'larger than life! lol
Good luck! Greetz Anne & Taz (from Holland!)

We just returned to Los Angeles from a few days in Las Vegas and wow, I
came home with a new favorite singer / performer. Let me tell you, we saw
the show, We Will Rock You at the Paris Hotel, based on the music of
Queen. The show is a must see, not just because it has great music or that
it is playing in the heart of the Sunset Strip, but because there
wonderful and talented performer that we must all learn about and
appreciate. Trust me on this, she has the vocal and acting talent that has
been missing on stage for years. She is the perfect Killer Queen, to the
T! When Patti sang her first song, several of us looked at each other with
our eyes popped open and jaws dropped, what a hidden talent. We all agreed
that she stole the show and that we could learn more about Patti Russo,
find out where she is performing and make every effort to attend. We will
be going back to Las Vegas in a few weeks just to see her perform. Patti =

We have just had the pleasure of seeing and listening to Patti perform
with Meat Loaf & The Neverland Express on the latest tour, saw her at
Harewood House 03/07/2005 and Chatsworth House 10/07/2005, what wonderful
performances on both occasions when Meat introduces her at the end of
Paradise she receives a thunderous applause, very richly deserved. Meat
even throw her over his shoulder and placed both hands on her you know
what, not a bad job if you can get it, even better on both venues got
backstage, at Harewood Patti was sat outside in the sun when Meat
introduced us to the band and said that she hoped we enjoyed the concert,
and on the Chatsworth visit herself and CC where in the trailer applying
their make up, CC gladly posed for a photo with us but Patti was nowhere
to be seen when we had finished, so we missed the opportunity that time.
Her voice and performances enhance any Meat Loaf concert, without doubt
perfection personified. Al & Saeko
